ASP.NET MVC documentation for Visual Studio 2008 | Tech Off | Channel 9

published 234 days, 4 hours, 3 minutes ago posted by IXWebHostingIXWebHosting 242 days, 4 hours, 52 minutes ago

Is there a download for this somewhere that I can't find. Installing ASP.NET MVC itself doesn't seem to add any documentation to the help browser in VS2008. It exists in the online MSDN library though:- http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.mvc.aspx   I re-downloaded and did a repair with the MSI of the VS2008 SP1 documentation set just to check, and that doesn't include it. I have recorded some screen casts during the last week for Microsoft, one is was published today on Channel 9 (The Screen cast is in Swedish, I will eventually try to record screen casts also in English, but when that happens, I don’t now). You can found the screen cast here: http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/MSDNSweden/Introduktion-till-Template-i-ASPNET-MVC-2/ For those who can’t understand Swedish, here is a short summary of the screen cast. With ASP.NET MVC version 2.0 we can use templates. It w... (more)

VS 2010 SKUs – Lost? Are you lost trying to figure out how the new Visual Studio 2010 SKUs maps to VS 2008? First, gone are the Team System SKUs.  The features are not lost, they just merged into the Visual Studio brand.  Here’s a chart listing the 2008 and 2010 SKUs.  Each is color coded to help you match them. Chart taken from this document: Visual Studio 2010 Packaging Fact Sheet (.docx, 554KB) So lets do crude some comparisons: VS 2010 Pro with MSDN is like VS 2008 Pro with MSDN + a... (more)

In the September and October 2000 issues of MSDN® Magazine I discussed how to build a client-side environment for ASP applications; that is, a serverless environment to run ASP pages (see Cutting Edge: A Client-side Environment for ASP Pages and Cutting Edge: A Client-side Environment for ASP Pages—Part 2). Those columns were inspired by the following scenario. Suppose that one of your clients needs to distribute some online content using a CD—an encyclopedia, yellow pages, or a collection of documents,... (more)

Saturday, October 03, 2009 9:40:20 AM GMT Monday, September 28, 2009 8:53:38 AM GMT
I updated my SilverTwit code for my June 2009 Data Points column in MSDN Magazine to use the release version of Silverlight 3. The revised code can be retrieved in the codeplex site here. There were 3 sets of changes: (1) Twitter started using larger numbers for Ids, so I had to switch to use long instead of int and (2) the API for Out of Browser applications changed from beta to release and (3) the Out of Browser settings (formerly in the AppManifest.xml) changed. Here are the changes since I posted th... (more)
